SLMC provides advice to Government on the management of Strangford Lough Marine Nature Reserve with regard to:

• maintenance and enhancement of the marine and terrestrial environment
• provision of opportunities for study, research, education and interpretation
• monitoring the environment
• economic and recreational opportunities
• integration of new developments

It is composed of a wide range of statutory and non-statutory bodies and individuals.
