The NAVBC operates in four main business areas:

• Provision of biotechnology services to industry, academic institutions and the agri-food sector.
• Contract research and development for industrial majors.
• Strategic research alliances with industry and research bodies leading towards the joint discovery and development of novel Drugs, vaccines, assays and related products.
• Development of proprietary products (including vaccines, diagnostics and Drugs) for out-licensing or collaboration with an industrial major.
